Why do you carve pumpkins into scary faces?
A long time ago they used to think if you carved it into a a scary face, then the spirits would live in the pumpkin. They also thought that by leaving a pumpkin out side your door, it would keep away the monsters, ghosts, and spirits. Now, we just carve them for fun and into anything you want.

Why do people wear costumes on halloween?
A long time ago they used to think that if you wore a scary costume on halloween you would scare away spirits and monsters. Now, you wear them just for fun!

Did you know?
Before they used pumpkins for jack-o-lanturns, then used gourds. The gourds were carved just like pumpkins, expet gourds come in more strange shapes. Today. people sometimes still use them!
